I saw that you liked the two old posts that I had written in Kannada :) Glad to stumble upon a fellow Kannada reader, we're an endangered species :D
I wanted to create my reading list on Goodreads for a long time. Thanks to your comment, I finally got around to creating my list. You can find it here - https://www.goodreads.com/nitinpuranik
Hey Daniel! I binge-read Philip Greenspun many years back. Brilliant essays on his site. Had totally forgotten about him, thanks so much for the reminder. Now I'll be enjoying re-reading his site for the next few days/weeks, yay! :D
I discovered Greenspun from a link mentioned at another awesome FI and early retirement site - https://livingafi.com/ This guy doesn't blog these days but his past writings, his commentary on working-life, his office-experiences are super-engaging. You might enjoy this blog, and it's dark, cynical undertones.
I actually read this guy's blog at one point (or at least one post). Honestly, I think he was the main cause of his own problems. He's less dark/cynical and more stupid/sad, IMO.
You need a certain amount of creativity and imagination to have a good life and to keep people interested in being around you. This guy seems to have just stopped working and then done. . . nothing. I guess it's not that unusual. Most retirees don't go on to really do anything worthwhile, and it's probably less related to old age than most people just not having a lot to contribute. Maybe working until death is best for most people.
The bit where his wife leaves him because she feels like a loser for being with him actually made me start laughing. The guy's lack of self-awareness is painful.
(I realize the above is a little mean. But it's a pet peeve of mine when stupid people pretend to be intelligent and mislead others. "Failed novices giving terrible advice to beginners." I run into this often, especially on the Internet.)
Would love to see/hear about the long books you plan to read.

Feel free to share your list of books!
Hey, man. Found this article on early retirement which I think you'll like.

"And I’ve run into a few acquaintences that think I’ve been laid off from my job and haven’t been able to find a new job in 3 years."
This made me laugh.
